SAP R/3 Courses

SAP ABAP programmers perform application development, enhancements and support, create GUI interfaces, custom reports and perform data conversion utilizing various SAP development tools.

SAP functional professionals conduct setup, customization and enhancements of SAP functional modules in order to satisfy client requirements in different industries.

Extremely high demand for SAP specialists has caused numerous instances of "stealing" employees from a partnering firm, client or competing company as well as steady increase in average salaries, contractor rates, and signing bonuses. Typical SAP professionals’ salary range is from $80,000 to $200,000, and contract rates range is from $80/hr to $200/hr.

After graduation from one of these courses, students are able to develop, code and test new SAP applications, perform functional setup and customization, or support existing systems under guidance of a team leader, lead SAP developer, or senior SAP functional analyst.

SAP R/3 basis administration course

Basis programmers perform SAP systems support, installations, upgrades, performance monitoring and tuning. Basis specialists are considered very high level professionals, and are in great demand: typical SAP Basis salary range is from $80,000 to $150,000, and contract rates range from $90/hr to $250/hr.

Basis students learn SAP fundamentals, ABAP/4, Basis theory and practical skills and, after graduation, are able to perform systems support, upgrades, and SAP database administration under guidance of a senior Basis administrator.

SAP has constantly been broadening its product line with new releases by incorporating functionality in the areas of APO (Advanced Planning and Optimization), BIW (Business Information Warehouse), SFA (Sales Force Automation), and Variant Configuration. A number of industry-specific solutions have been developed to target specific industries like retail, oil, auto, utilities, banking, insurance, hospitals. All SAP functionality is fully Internet-enabled, and can be accessed using SAP Internet Transaction server. Sophisticated E-commerce applications can be developed using SAP-supplied BAPI objects (BAPI supports DCOM and COBRA) hosted on transaction servers in NT (MTS) or Unix (Orbix) environments. Also, most organizations have been convinced of the advantages of using one vendor for all ERP needs, and have consequently proceeded to build SAP-centric solutions primarily with SAP supplied components.

These developments have spurred the demand for technical manpower needed to support SAP supplied solutions in the area of Basis. The new SAP functionality has also created a demand for supporting upgrades to new releases of SAP.

It is desirable that course participants have a couple years of prior experience in either Unix or NT system administration, Oracle/DB2/Informix/SQL Server database administration, or SQL-based programming experience in Unix, mainframe, NT or AS/400 environments. Prior knowledge of ABAP/4 is necessary and can be obtained as a part of this course.

The total length of this course is 120 hours taught in approximately 12 weeks.
The contents of the course include 75 hours of Basis instructor-led lectures and labs as well as 45 hours of SAP fundamentals and ABAP/4 training.

Basis training includes the following topics:

  • SAP R/3 Architecture

  • The Online Service System

  • Installation Concepts

  • System Landscape and Transport System

  • Client Administration

  • R/3 Users and Authorizations, Profile Generator

  • Background Processing
